Mother's Day Weekend
What a perfect 1st Mother's Day! It all got started with beautiful flowers and the sweetest card I have ever read from Maria - she translated something she read in Spanish. Here's what it said:
Kirby's Way Home
Lord, someone told me that you will send me to earth tomorrow, but how will I survive if I'm so young and defenseless?
Among a lot of angels I have chosen one for you. She will take care of you.
But, in heaven I just sing and play and it's enough to be happy.
Your angel will sing for you and will smile every day, and you will feel love and be happy.
How will I understand her if I don't speak her language?
Your angel will tell you sweet words and will teach you how to talk.
What will I do when I need you?
Your angel will teach you to pray.
I'll be sad because I won't see you anymore.
Your angel will talk about me, and you will find the way to me, and I'll always be with you.
At that moment there was peace...The girl hurried to Him softly.
Lord, if I'm going, tell me her name. What's my angel's name?
Her name is not important. You just call her: Mother...Megan
How sweet is that, and how blessed are we to have such a kind, loving lady take care of our baby girl? The rest of the weekend was just as wonderful.
Kirby's been so generous with her kisses lately...
Our new favorite thing is playing with moss. I have seriously never swept so much in my entire life.

11 things for 11 months!
1. Kirby is talking up a storm - she's learned several new words this month and LOVES to make animal sounds. Her favorite by far is the monkey sound...Whenever she sees her toy monkey, she lights up and says, "E-E-E-E-E-O-E!"
2. We celebrated Maria's birthday. I have always known that I can't bake or cook, but I wasn't aware that I can't spell either. It's the thought that counts, right?
3. Since Kirby's almost one, Annie decided she needed to start helping around the house. Her first chore was helping with the dishes. Good job, Kirbs!
4. Jim and I will celebrate our 5 year anniversary on Saturday. Time flies when you're having fun! I love you, sweet boy!!

5. Kirby fake coughs. It's hysterical!
6. Kirby LOVES flowers and dirt. She will sit outside and just touch the flowers and dig her fingers in the dirt. Unfortunately she also likes to eat flowers and dirt.
7. We bought Kirby squeaker sandals last weekend - she gets so excited when we put them on her and jumps up and down to make them squeak. I really think they will help her learn to walk or at least that's what I told myself when I rationalized buying her another pair of shoes!!
8. Kirby LOVES Goldfish and Cheerios. She smacks them and yells, "MO-MO-MO-MO-MO!" until we give her more. I never thought I would think that smacking was cute!!
9. Kirby has woken up at 5:30 almost every morning for the last 3 weeks. Isn't that fabulous?
10. Maria has decided to teach Kirby to blow out a candle so she'll be ready for her birthday. Kirby blows when she sees the flame, just not quite hard enough yet. Maria is such a blessing to our family and we just adore her - almost as much as Kirby does!
11. My cousin has a little girl who's 2 weeks older than Kirby. She is having surgery tomorrow - please keep sweet Georgia in your prayers!!

Zoo Animals and Party Animals
Wow...what a Monday! The zoo AND Jimmy Buffett in the same day - it doesn't get much better than that.
Annie and I took Kirby to see the monkeys, and she was in heaven. It was so neat to watch her take everything in.

As always, Jimmy Buffett was a blast, and the people watching was as good as the concert!
no clue who the the land shark is...

Mandy & I got a pic with Jimmy Buffett (or so he called himself!)

The "Texans" in San Fran
Here's what I learned on our San Francisco vacation...
Some people refer to it as MAN Francisco. Luke, from the looks of this pic you've been there 11 months too long...come home before you forget that you spent the first 30 years of your life as a Texan - we realized this weekend how much we miss you!!

In 'N Out burger animal style = yummy.
SF taxi drivers are Cuh-ray-zee. One driver educated us on all kinds of fascinating topics on our 10 minute ride to the hotel - most notably about his most recent head on collision accident (hmm, aren't we feeling safe).
Irish coffee at The Buena Vista is great, but don't try to order a grilled cheese, because you can't eat at the bar!
You can't embarrass Chris no matter how hard you try!! We spent Friday afternoon hanging out at Pier 23 - the view and the company was phenomenal :)

The Grays, the Lowrances, tandem bikes, and SF hills are a BAD combination...and that's all I'm going to say about that!

Chris' favorite part of the trip was the sea lions at Pier 39, and he can bark just like them.
Only "The Texans" as Luke labeled us would get a cab to take them across the Golden Gate Bridge.

The SF sea gulls are the size of chickens and Jim and Chris found out that their poop is just as big.
The view from Luke's apartment is amazing - from his roof you can see Alcatraz, the Golden Gate Bridge, and the skyline of the city...I can almostunderstand why he's not ready to come home!

We now know Luke's definition of a "smokin' hot chick" - I'll let him elaborate
The Market where they throw the fish is in Seattle, NOT San Francisco!
San Francisco was great - we had a wonderful "tour guide," perfect weather, and fun travel partners, but there's no place like home, and no one better to hang out with than our sweet baby girl!!!
