5 months!
These sweet babies have been with us for 5 months! We are loving getting to know Maggie and William's precious personalities, and we are blessed beyond words to have such healthy, happy, beautiful, sweet kiddos!! Here's what they've been up to this month:
We switched to an AR formula, and they're not spitting up nearly as much!
They were waking up no less than 10 times...each...every night. One of us would have to get up to give them a pacifier. As you can imagine, this got super old super quick. Last week, we decided to shut the nursery room door and turn off the monitor. I am happy to report that Jim and I have slept through the night the last 5 nights...we are assuming Maggie and William have done the same!
They have no interest in rice cereal, and we have had no time to encourage it, so we just haven't given it to them. We are going to work on that this month!
William...
...you LOVE LOVE LOVE your exersaucer! You can push the buttons and grab onto the toys. You stare and stare at the picture of the dog - I think it reminds you of Jack and Katy!
...you are teething and suck on our thumb all the time. You can't decide whether you want it or your pacifier, though.
...whenever you and Maggie are next to each other, you grab her hand and hold on to it, and your face lights up when you see her. What a sweet big brother, you are!!
...you love to stand in our laps - you're such a strong boy! That said, your chubby cheeks are still making it so hard for you to keep your head up during tummy time!
...you love holding on to blankets and little stuffed animals. You have a couple of little "lovies" that we've been trying out. I can't wait to see which one you decide to like the best!!
Maggie...
...your still smile with your whole face, and we only have to look at you to get you smile. We love your twinkling eyes!!!
...you are the most petite little thing I have ever seen - I don't know where those 7 oz. bottles go!
...miraculously, you manage to get out of the Miracle Blanket every night (despite the fact that we swaddle you so tightly that your blanket is coming apart at the seems). You can't go to sleep unswaddled quite yet, though.
...you can roll from your tummy to your back and can almost get from your back to your tummy.
...you are a total jabber jaws - I love our little conversations!

Thanksgiving 2009
We had a great Thanksgiving in San Antonio!!
We headed to SA after the babies ate Wednesday night. Since it was bed time when we got on the road, we didn't let Kirby watch a movie. We thought for sure that she would go right to sleep. Wrong. We had to pull over in Sealy to spank her (really just a pop on her diaper - we promise we don't really beat her!!) because she was throwing such a fit. I'm sure CPS will be knocking on our door after the scene she made in the Walgreen's parking lot. Once we got Kirby under control, Maggie started screaming and did so until we got co Columbus. In case you are wondering, there is NO place to stop between Sealy and Columbus. After that, things calmed down...we are so thankful!
After the car ride, we were a little nervous about the weekend, but it was perfect! Our goal on Thursday was to have all five kiddos (Hadley, Kirby, Elliot, William, & Maggie) down for afternoon naps before we sat down for Thanksgiving dinner at 2, and we did it! It felt like such an accomplishment, and I am sure it was part of the reason that the meal tasted so yummy! Pam did a great job cooking - such a good job that Andy and Jim both gained 4 lbs. (they had before/after weigh ins)!!
The rest of the weekend was just as great - the girls played together so well! They stayed up chatting in their room during nap time and again well after bed time. Next time I want to have a monitor in there so I can hear what 2 and 3 year olds have to say to each other when no one else is around :)
We even got a picture of all of the kids!!
Bottle for William...bottle for Daddy.
Nap for Maggie...nap for Daddy.

4 months!!
It's so crazy to me that I feel like the last 4 months have flown by but at the same time feel that Maggie and William have been with us forever! They are truly the sweetest babies and are becoming so fun to be around.
At their four month check-up last week, Dr. Suell gave us the "I'm trying to find something wrong with them but I just can't!" line, so they're doing great! We got the ok to start rice cereal, but no one's too interested in it quite yet. I think we might wait a couple of weeks and try again. As big as William seems, he's only in the 25th % for height & weight. Here are their stats:
Maggie 12 lb. 6 oz., 23 inches
William 13 lb. 12 oz., 24 inches
You would never know by holding them that there is only a 1 lb difference between them...it feels like 5!!!
Maggie and William both greet us each morning with the biggest smiles. Maggie's smiles light up her entire face and most of the time she stays that smiley until she falls asleep at night. I think she smiles with her eyes more than her mouth which is just precious!! That smile just melts our hearts every time we see it. William's big blue eyes sparkle when he smiles, and when he gets his legs going, you know he's having fun!
Mags is super strong - she does great on her tummy and can push up pretty well on her arms. I think she'll roll over pretty soon. William, on the other hand, still can't quite get his head off the blanket...we blame it on those cheeks!!! He loves the rainforest bouncer and has started grabbing at the monkey and bird on it.
We have the best conversations with M & W, and I think they thing I'm pretty funny because they are laughing a lot these days! William thinks he's funny, too - last night he was talking to my mom and in the middle of his babbles just started belly laughing - it was hysterical! Maggie will laugh if you make funny faces and sounds, and William loves to be tickled. He loves it when you pump his legs and raise his arms up and down...such a boy to be rough and tough already! "Patty-cake" has become a staple.
They both LOVE Kirby, and the feeling is mutual. She is so attentive to them now - she always wants to make sure they have their pacifier and tries to soothe them when they cry. Seeing them interact makes me so excited about the friends that they will one day be!

"Oh my gosh, there are 2 babies"
I've decided having twins and a 2 year old is a lot like a circus...or a freak show. EVERYWHERE we go, people stop and stare. Then, they say, "Oh my gosh there's 2 of them!" I, of course, immediately think, "Wow, I'm so glad you can count," and then feel guilty because everyone is so nice to us when we're out with the babies. I guess they feel very sorry for us!!! I have to admit it does get pretty crazy around here, but we are settling into a routine and are SO blessed to have such good, healthy kiddos.
Here are some pictures from the last few weeks...2 babies and a 2 year old has been fun!!
We celebrated Mom's 84th birthday on the 25th. Doesn't she look great? Maggie and William are her 18th and 19th great-grandchildren! Number 20, Ruby, is due in December.
Not that you can tell from this picture, but Kirby was super excited to get to play with her cousin, Georgia!
Sweet Annie and DonDon took Maggie and William for a couple of nights a couple of weeks ago. It was great for us to be able to spend time with just Kirby. We took her to the Rainforest Cafe. She loved it! Thanks for giving us a break!! Does William look like my dad or what???
Thanks for the baby legs, Pam May!!
I love this picture, because you can see how much Maggie loves Kirby already! M & W both just light up when Kirbs talks to them. She is such a good big sister!!
She loves shoes...no doubt she's my daughter!!! Notice the big girl panties, too!!!!!
Halloween was so fun this year!! Kirby decided she wanted to be a bee for Halloween, and I don't think I've ever seen a more precious bee. She LOVED dressing up and buzzing around! She's very into pretending like different animals, so this was right up her alley!
Maggie and William were good sports at the neighborhood parties! Jim was adamant that William was a bull and not a cow!
