15 months!!

My goodness, time flies when you're having fun! We can't believe our baby girl will be 15 months old tomorrow!! She's busy, busy these days, and we are having the best time with her!!

1. We've working on getting rid of the pappy. Kirby only gets it when she sleeps and when we're in the car. Every morning, we go in, get her out of bed, and before we change her diaper she has to take her pappy out of her mouth and throw it in her bed. Jim and I say, "One...two...three! Bye-bye Pappy!" Then, Kirby says, "two, two, two. Bye-bye pappy!" and throws it in the bed. We'll work on the odd numbers later!

When I got her out of bed one morning at the beach, she had a pappy in her mouth and two blankets in her hand. She was quick to drop the pappy in the bed, and I thought wow, that was easy! We proceeded to leave the room, and she pulled another pappy from under her blanket, popped it in her mouth and just giggled. Very sneaky.

Incidentally, our refrigerator is covered with pictures of family - Kirby points to pictures of everyone and says their names. When she gets one particular picture, she points to Pam and says, "Nana," points to herself and says, "Key-bee" and then immediately points to the pacifier and says "Pappy?" In Kirby's mind, Pappy is a long lost member of our family!!

2. She still LOVES books. She will pick one out, bring it to us, and then turn around and back into our laps so we can read it to her. Then she'll hop up and grab another one. Go Dog. Go! and The Eye Book are her favorites. Jim and I both can recite them in our sleep!

3. Kirby is very into doors these days. She closes any open door and says Bye-Bye, you then have to knock, open it and say HI!!! She also walks up to closed doors (any door - the pantry door, closet doors, etc) tries to open them and says, "Outside??"

4. She is definitely her Mother's daughter. She loves "Sues" and tries to put them on - she will spend forever in my closet pulling out shoes one by one. She shows us each and every one and says, "Sue?" every time. Most everything Kirby says comes out in the form of a question.

5. Evidently we tickle Kirby's toes quite a bit, because she walks up to us, bends down, tickles our toes and says in a very high pitched voice, "tickle-tickle-tickle." The best is when she stops mid step and tickles her own feet. She thinks it's sooooo funny and just laughs and laughs.

6. She's really living up to her name - she sucks down more food than any kid I've ever seen. Tonight she ate more broccoli than Jim and I did combined. She just kept cramming it in her mouth - it was amazing! We haven't found much she won't eat. Kirby wants to eat everything we do - she points to whatever she wants and says, "Bite?" or "More?" She likes to use spoons now, too - she holds the spoon, uses her other hand to put the food on the spoon and then puts the spoon in her mouth.

7. We've always said that if you're going to do something, do it right. Well, Kirby has perfected the art of fit-throwing. We're talking full on back arching, foot stomping, fist clenching, lip quivering fits. Luckily they don't last too long!!! Passionate is what Courtney calls it, I think.

8. "Ma-yee-ya" is SO fun! Kirby still adores her, as do we!! She took Kirby to the new park in Houston, Discovery Green, for a picnic and to play in the fountains. She's the best!!!

9. Kirby is still a huge fan of bows - picking out one (or two or three) to wear is the first thing we do after diaper change in the morning.


10. I haven't been able to get it on video yet, but Kirby loves to dance - her signature move is the single shoulder shrug. Whenever she hears music or gets super excited, she starts with the shoulder and moves into swinging arms and squats. There's absolutely NO rhythm to it - she gets that from me, too!!

12. Everything is either the color "boo" or "geen" It's so exciting when she says "boo" and actually points to something blue (completely a coincidence, of course)...I think man, she's so smart!

13. Kirby is no longer ok with sitting in shopping carts. Standing is so much more fun, which makes Target trips not so much fun for Mommy. Climbing on any and everything is obviously very fun, too. She says, "Up, up, up" as she goes. We're working on a safe way to get down, down, down.

15. We pulled out a bunch of baby stuff to take/return to the Hills last weekend. Kirby was in heaven playing with all of it - she never liked the Bumbo this much when she actually fit in it!!
