Sea World!
We went with Nana and Papa to Sea World on Saturday - Kirby was mesmerized by the shows - she climbed from Jim to me to Nana to Papa and then back down the row during the shows without ever taking her eyes off the stage - we can't wait to take her back!! She was such a good sport - especially since she didn't take a nap on Saturday.

Our trip was cut a bit short when Kirby's diaper was so full that it busted, and we realized that the diapers were in the back of the Tahoe...in the Gray's drive way. I have a new found respect for Pampers. The "Little Skippers" diaper was Ghet-to!! Poor Kirby - sometimes Mommy just can't get it together.

RANDOM...
I've been without a camera cord for a while, so I've got some catching up to do...

Every time Kirby touched the sticker on the end of the drill, Gordon pulled the trigger - She thought she was such a big helper!

Kirby ate up all the attention in Beaumont!!

We rode the train at Hermann park a couple of weeks ago - Kirby had a blast...not that you can tell from her expression! She waved and said Ha-yo to everyone we passed. And, yes, my legs are THAT white.

Jim and I went running Friday morning so naturally we stopped at Shipley's on the way home. I got Kirbs her "first" doughnut. She started yelling "Doe-Nuh" as soon as she saw Jim start eating. I have no idea how she knew what it was - I am guessing that it wasn't really her first!! Kirby picked out her own bows for the run - she's decided Yeyyow is her favorite color.

We're back!
Hurricane Ike really shook September up. Poor Jim was super excited about about experiencing a hurricane. I, on the other hand had no desire to "hunker down" with a one-year old so I played the overprotective mother card, and we evacuated to San Antonio early Friday morning. It turned out to be a great decision! We had so much fun with Nana and Papa, Jim and I went on a date, and by the time we got back to Houston on Monday, we had power back!
Other than being without cable and internet until yesterday, our house was untouched by the hurricane. What a blessing! My grandfather and his wife were not so fortunate, however. They lived on Crystal Beach and lost everything, including their dog. My heart just breaks for them - I can't imagine being 80 and having to start over from scratch. Please keep them in your prayers!
While we were in SA, Kirby developed a fever that didn't go away for several days - turns out she had some kind of virus that ended with the worst rash you've ever seen. She also decided to get two teeth in the middle of all this. We're so glad she's feeling better and is back to fun, happy self!!
The rest of the month has been wonderfully uneventful!
Py, Kirby's godfather, came to Houston to go to church with us last Sunday to celebrate the anniversary of her baptism - Kirby loves her Py!!

Kirby's all about the bathroom lately. She loves brushing her teeth and putting on "powduh" with my makeup brushes. She is forever trying to get into the cabinets (sidenote: we FINALLY did some babyproofing - there are now locks on the cabinets in our bathroom and under the kitchen sink!!)

Kirby will hate me for putting this in writing, but she's started telling us, "Uh-oh, poo-poo," when she has a dirty diaper, and Maria suggested we get a potty just to introduce the idea, so I got a pink princess potty that plays music. It's so cute, and while it's just a chair to Kirby right now, she LOVES her "Pahtee" and sits on it to read her books while we get dressed in the mornings.

Aren't Kirby's shoes cute? They're a size 3. She wears a 4 1/2. Mother of the year had no idea she'd been binding her feet.

I had such good intentions about being strict with the TV and the DVD player in the car. We let her do whatever she wanted when she was sick, and now we can't seem to get back on track. I give in to her "Ine-tine" and Elmo requests WAY more than I should...
